Sinks and Taps

Stone fabrication for sinks, taps and drainer details

A sink area needs to work hard every day, but it also needs to look right within the overall design of the room. At Bath Granite & Marble, we fabricate stone surfaces for a wide range of sink and tap details, including under-mounted sinks, over-mounted sinks, Belfast sinks, integrated sink designs, recessed drainers, drainer grooves and tap holes. The aim is always the same: to make these practical features feel well finished, well positioned and right for the way the space will be used.

We help customers think through both the visual and practical side of these decisions. The type of sink, the edge detail around the cut-out, the placement of tap holes and the style of drainer can all affect how the finished worktop looks and functions.

Under-Mounted Sinks

Under-mounted sinks are one of the most popular choices for stone worktops because they create a clean transition between the sink and the surface. They allow water, crumbs and everyday mess to be wiped straight into the ‘bowl’, which makes them both practical and visually tidy.

For this type of sink, the cut-out needs to be accurate and the inner stone edge needs to be finished well, because that detail remains visible every day. We fabricate under-mounted sink cut-outs carefully so the finished result feels neat, balanced and easy to live with in both kitchens and bathrooms.

Over-Mounted Sinks

Over-mounted sinks, also known as inset sinks, sit into the worktop with the rim visible above the surface. They are often a practical choice for utility rooms, traditional kitchens and projects where the sink style itself is part of the look.

The key with an over-mounted sink is making sure the opening is cut accurately so the sink sits correctly and the surrounding stone feels properly finished. We help make sure the detail works both visually and practically within the wider layout of the worktop.

Belfast Sinks

Belfast sinks create a strong focal point and are often chosen for classic, shaker and country-style kitchens. Their depth and front-facing form give them a very different presence from a standard inset or under-mounted sink, so the surrounding stonework needs to be planned carefully.

We fabricate the stone around Belfast sinks with close attention to fit, weight support and finish, so the sink feels properly integrated into the cabinetry and worktop design. When handled well, this detail can feel both timeless and very practical.

Integrity Sinks

Integrity sinks are integrated sink units, most commonly associated with Silestone quartz and are designed to create a more seamless look between the sink and the surrounding surface. They are often chosen for contemporary interiors where clean lines and visual continuity matter.

Because the sink and surrounding worktop need to work together as one design feature, this detail relies on careful fabrication and accurate fitting. When done well, the result feels clean, minimal and easy to maintain.

Recessed Drainers

Recessed drainers are a practical feature that can also add a smart, understated detail beside the sink. By lowering a section of the stone slightly, water is encouraged to run back towards the bowl while keeping the sink area looking neat.

They are especially useful in busy kitchens where the sink area gets a lot of daily use. The main thing is to make sure the recess feels intentional and proportioned correctly within the worktop, rather than added on as an afterthought.

Sink Grooves (Drainer Grooves)

Drainer grooves are one of the most requested sink details for stone worktops, especially with under-mounted sinks. They help channel water back towards the bowl while keeping the surrounding surface simple and easy to wipe down.

The spacing, direction and finish of the grooves all make a difference to how they look. We help make sure they feel integrated into the overall design of the sink area, so they add both practicality and a clean finished detail.

Tap Holes & Multiple Tap Holes

Tap holes need careful planning because their position affects both appearance and usability. Whether the project needs a single mixer tap, separate hot and cold taps, a filtered water tap or an additional soap dispenser, the layout needs to feel balanced around the sink area.

We fabricate tap holes to suit the sink, the worktop layout and the wider design of the room, making sure the finished result looks well considered rather than crowded or awkward. This is particularly important when several fittings need to sit in the same area.
