How we work
Design and
Consultation
Every project starts with a conversation. You can visit our showroom in Frome or Lyndhurst, send us your plans, or get in touch with the details you have so far. Some customers already know the material and finish they want. Others are still choosing between different stones, colours and practical options.
At this stage, we help you make sense of the early decisions. This can include material choice, thickness, edge details, splashbacks, cut-outs and any features that may affect the finished worktop. If you have plans, cabinet colours, flooring samples, appliance details or inspiration images, they can all help us guide you more clearly. The aim is to help you feel more confident before the project moves forward.
Quotation
Once we have enough information, we prepare a clear quotation for your project. To help us price the work as accurately as possible, we will usually ask for:
Plans, drawings or rough measurements of the worktop areas.
Your preferred material and thickness, usually 20mm or 30mm.
Details of any cut-outs, such as sinks, hobs, taps, sockets or lighting.
Any edge details, drainer grooves or special features you would like.
Whether you need upstands, splashbacks or window sills.
The installation address.
Any access details, such as flats, narrow stairs, restricted parking or difficult access.
If you are not sure about every detail yet, that is completely fine. Send us what you have and our team can help you from there.
Order
Once you are happy to go ahead, we issue an order confirmation so the key details are agreed before the next stage begins. This includes the material, thickness, finish, edge details, cut-outs and any other features included in the project.
This step is important because it gives everyone a clear record of what has been chosen. It helps us move into templating and fabrication with the right information in place, while giving you confidence that the details have been checked and understood.
Templating
Digital
Templating takes place once the cabinets are fitted, fixed in position and ready for final measurements. One of our templaters will visit site to measure carefully and check the practical details that affect how the finished stone will fit.
This is the point where smaller decisions become very important. Sink and hob positions, tap holes, overhangs, drainer grooves, splashbacks, cut-outs and any special features are all checked before the stone is made. If any final details still need to be confirmed, we can usually guide you through them during the visit.
To help the appointment run smoothly, sinks, taps, hobs, appliances and any relevant templates should be on site and ready. Existing worktops should also be removed if they are being replaced, unless this has been agreed with us in advance. Good templating helps make the final installation more accurate and straightforward.
-
All base cabinets and furniture must be permanently fixed in place.
All taps, sinks, hobs, appliances, sink templates and any other accessories must be on-site.
Belfast sinks must be installed in their final position.
Under-mounted sinks must be supported in a secure cradle, with the top of the sink levelled to the cabinet surface.
Range cookers and free-standing cookers must be positioned correctly.
Any required boxing-in of pipework must be completed.
Existing worktops (if being replaced) must be fully removed prior to our visit.
Please note: Unless otherwise agreed, our quotation is based on a single templating visit. Additional visits due to site incompleteness may incur a charge.
Fabrication
Once templating is complete, your stone is fabricated at our Frome factory. This is where the project starts to become a finished surface. The material is cut, shaped, polished and checked using a mix of modern machinery and careful hand finishing, depending on the material and the details involved.
This stage can include edge profiles, sink and hob cut-outs, drainer grooves, splashbacks and any bespoke details that form part of the design. If the stone has strong veining or movement, we also think carefully about the slab layout, as this can affect how balanced the finished worktop feels.
Before installation, each piece is checked against the template and the agreed project details. This is not only about making sure the measurements are right. It is also about making sure the surface looks right, fits properly and is ready for the installation team.
Installation
Once fabrication is complete, our installation team returns to fit the finished surfaces. Installation usually takes place around 7 to 10 working days after templating, depending on the material, project details and our schedule at the time. We will agree the installation date with you in advance.
During installation, our team fits the worktops carefully and checks the key details on site, including sinks, hobs, taps, joints and any other agreed features. A good installation is not just about placing the stone in position. It is about making sure the final surface feels neat, secure and right in the space.
We work with care and respect for the property throughout the fitting process. Before the project is signed off, we want to make sure you are happy with the completed result and understand any care advice for your chosen material.
AfterCare
Our support does not end on installation day. Once your new surfaces are fitted, we will explain how to look after the material properly so it can stay looking its best over time.
Different materials need different care. Quartz, granite, marble, quartzite, porcelain and sintered stone all behave in their own way, so the advice we give will depend on the surface you have chosen.
If you have questions after installation, we are always happy to help. We want you to feel looked after during the project and confident about living with your new worktops afterwards.
Supply Only
For trade professionals or experienced installers, we also offer a supply-only service. In these cases, we fabricate the stone surfaces from templates provided to us, rather than carrying out the templating and installation ourselves.
Templates must be full size, accurate and include all the details needed for fabrication. This includes cut-outs, finished edges, overhangs, joints, splashbacks and any other project-specific requirements.
This service is best suited to people who already have the fitting side of the project arranged and need a reliable stone fabrication partner to produce the finished pieces accurately.
